Quartet: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack brings together a range of classical recordings featured in Dustin Hoffmans 2012 directorial debut, a film set in a retirement home for former opera singers. Rather than commissioning a traditional score, the production leans on established repertoire from opera, chamber music, and orchestral works, reflecting the characters shared history on the concert stage.

Verdis La donna mobile from Rigoletto and Puccinis Vissi darte from Tosca anchor the operatic selections, while Saint-Sans Le cygne from Le carnaval des animaux offers a quieter interlude. Gilbert and Sullivans numbers from The Mikado introduce a lighter theatrical touch, balanced by the poised elegance of Haydns Sunrise String Quartet. Presented on CD, the soundtrack plays like a curated recital tied together by the films setting.
