Composer’s Note:

June 2011, a piece that evokes a Bernstein-era ethosof American contemporary music. Towering chordsopen the work with urbane optimism, and a swung linein the ensemble featuring xylophone and glockenspielevokes ambitious third stream works and forays intoincorporating jazz into adventurous music theaterpieces. A wistful middle section features nostalgicmelodic material, heard in rich, tutti string passages.
