Designed for all instrumentalists, this workbook is a great resource for understanding how jazz standards are constructed. It’s also perfect for arrangers and composers seeking new writing tools. While some of the musical examples are pianistic, this book is not exclusively for keyboard players. Every new concept is clearly presented and explained, put in context with one or more musical examples, and then consolidated with a set of written exercises. It begins with a comprehensive presentation of intervals and culminates with an in-depth review of the synthetic modes.
