Nothing Like I Planned: Greatest Hits, Vol. 3collects John Cougar Mellencamp recordings from across his catalog, tracing his move from early pop-rock success toward a more grounded Midwestern songwriting style. The set brings together major singles with deeper album cuts that emphasize his focus on work, community, and American life. Jack and Diane captures his early breakthrough, while Small Town and Pink Houses frame personal stories within broader social portraits. Paper in Fire adds the tougher folk-rock edge of his later work to this CD collection.
