French Opera Libretti
Volume III
By Nico Castel
Edited by Scott Jackson Wiley and Michel Singher

This third volume of French Opera Libretti contains the following operas: Le Prophte and Les Huguenots (Meyerbeer); Cendrillon and Don Quichotte (Massenet); Louise (Charpentier); and Les Troyens (Berlioz).
In her foreword to this volume, Frederica von Stade says: “What an enormous undertaking, but indeed, what a wonderful treasure for coming generations of young opera singers,…All this and guidance by an expert on how to pronounce it properly in an idiomatic fashion the way the native singers do…. A work of this dimension has been needed for a long time and we can thank a man like Nico Castel for his tireless industry and love of words…. One truly feels that he is in love with words in all tongues, as only a deep passion could have inspired him to give such a great gift to all of us through these translations and guides for pronunciation…“
