John Coltrane Quartets Crescent was released in 1964 on Impulse! Records, arriving during a concentrated run of studio work that would soon lead to A Love Supreme. Recorded with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones, the album reflects Coltranes deepening spiritual focus within a post-bop setting.

The title track Crescent sets a reflective tone, while Wise One continues that inward approach through its melodic phrasing. In contrast, Bessies Blues offers a more direct, blues-based structure, and Lonnies Lament gives space to Garrisons extended bass feature. This edition is presented on CD.
