Check Your Head is the Beastie Boys third studio album, bringing live instrumentation back into the foreground after the sample-dense construction of Pauls Boutique. Recorded at the groups own G-Son studio, it moves between hip-hop, hardcore punk, funk, and loose instrumental jams.

Pass the Mic and So Whatcha Want anchor the record with distorted grooves and tag-team verses, while Gratitude builds around a heavy bass line and live-band attack. Jimmy James opens the album with a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. This edition is presented on 2LP vinyl.
