The sentimental lyrics of Auld Lang Syne are based on a Scottish poem by Robert Burns from 1788. The music is a pentatonic Scot folk melody that was probably originally performed at a moderately fast tempo. The song gradually became famous for being a worldwide tradition at the end of New Year’s celebrations. This beautiful and emotional version uses lush modern harmonies and moving inner voices to ask the sentimental question “should old times be forgotten?” A touching piece of music to end your annual winter concert or for any other time that a highly original breathtakingly beautiful string setting is appropriate!
