Anthology: Through the Years surveys Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers career from their early recordings through the 1990s, also drawing in key songs from Pettys solo catalog. The collection traces the bands evolution from lean, guitar-driven rock to the broader, more polished sound of their later work.

American Girl captures the urgency of the debut era, while Refugee and The Waiting show the Heartbreakers at their most direct and radio-ready. Later staples including Free Fallin and Mary Janes Last Dance extend the story across two discs in this CD set.
