John Coltrane and Johnny Hartmans John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman was released in 1963 on Impulse! Records, recorded in a single session with Coltranes classic quartet. It stands apart in his discography as a full-length collaboration with a vocalist, focusing on ballads drawn from the American songbook.

Performances like My One and Only Love and Lush Life center Hartmans baritone against the quartets restrained accompaniment, while Dedicated to You and They Say Its Wonderful highlight the albums measured pacing and phrasing. The closing Autumn Serenade continues that intimate tone, keeping the focus on melody and space. This edition is presented on CD.
