Composer’s Note:

The A-Section of this Rondeau-structured work, appearing both instrumentally and vocally, is based on a traditional North Indian teental (sixteen-pulsed)Kaidataught to me (when I was living at Dartington in South Devon, England) by my tabla teacher, Dvdan Sen, and used with his permission and encouragement. The mallet-keyboard sections are derived from etudes I had composed for my students to help them advance their technical and musical skills.
